A SPOONFUL HERE, A BITE THERE, JUST ENOUGH TO SATISFY YOUR CRAVINGS.

  1. Amaretto Cherry w/ Almonds - a core flavor at Lafayette Creamery, we start with a fleshy, West Coast Bordeaux Cherry steeped in cherry juice then add high quality vanilla, amaretto flavoring, and finish it with sliced almonds. The result is a smooth, creamy deep pink creation with both soft and crunchy texture elements. Available in pint sizes for wholesale distribution.

  2. Apricot Sumac- the answer to your first question is “No”. We are not harvesting Poison Sumac and incorporating it into our ice cream. Sumac is a Middle Eastern spice derived from a deep-red-colored berry that has citrusy qualities and a fruity-tart flavor. Chefs are known to use it to add depth to white meats and fish. We’ve coupled sumac with apricot chutney. The only “itching” you’ll develop is one to return to the shop to pick up more.

  3. Banket - say the “a” as “ahh” and then enjoy our version of this Dutch, almond paste-filled pastry which coincides with the Christmas season and the celebration of Saint Nicholas Day. We start with a vanilla base, add almond extract, pellets of almond paste, and sliced almonds for texture. Available in pint size for wholesale distribution.

  4. Bittersweet Chocolate - a core flavor at Lafayette Creamery, our version has no interruptions from chips or chunks or other texture items. 5. Black Forest - based upon the decadent German Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte dessert, the Lafayette Creamery version starts with our Bittersweet Chocolate base, adds texture with a flat chocolate chip, flavor depth with a hint of almond, and generous helping of fresh Michigan sweet cherries. A seasonal flavor when cherries are in harvest season.

  6. Blueberry Cheesecake - we only fresh Michigan blueberries from local farmers, delicious cream cheese, and a little bit of texture via crumbled graham crackers for this delicious flavor. Researchers point out that blueberries contain antioxidants which work to neutralize free radicals that are linked to cognitive decline, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other age-related conditions. Blueberries also contain high amounts of manganese which promotes bone development; however, the great flavor, texture, and color of this ice cream will provide maximum happiness—perhaps a greater benefit to your health that all those scientific findings! Available seasonally when fresh blueberries are harvested.

  7. Bourbon Cream Cheese - makes its debut in April 2024 as an experimental flavor. A complex flavor profile with sweet and sour elements and a subtle bourbon finish. Easily the creamiest flavor we’ve ever created

  8. Blueberry Sorbet - by definition sorbets are dairy-free and use fruit—not dairy—as their base. Judging by the reaction of a number of local chefs, it seems we’ve finally nailed this recipe.

  9. Carmel Apple - starts with a great applesauce made with Michigan apples, adds this into a heavy cream bath, and then takes on ribbons of caramel upon extraction. Available seasonally when apples are harvested.

We’ve coupled prunus cerasus with Juglans regia and then set the combination on the top of a waffle conus for you to enjoy. This flavor starts with our Sweet Milk Chocolate base, adds malt, and crushed malted milk balls for texture. Be sure to speak very slowly if you’d like a malted with Chocolate Malt ice cream.

  14. Cinnamon Peach - ahh, the blessed peach tree. It must endure at 45 days of below-freezing temperatures just to have the opportunity to bud. It then does its hardest work in the most unfavorable conditions of summer bearing its greatest weight in the hot, humid days of late July and early August. We think mother peach tree would be quite pleased to learn of the fine accommodations in which its offspring reside—a light dredging of sugar and cinnamon and then a spin in a heavy cream bath. Available seasonally when peaches are harvested.

  15. Coconut Almond Fudge - toasted coconut flakes and sliced almonds surrounded by a thick layer of fudge. It is like one of those candy bars that used to be a lot bigger years ago. Oh, and this one is frozen.

  16. Dark Chocolate Hazelnut - we know many readers will argue that we should named this flavor Chocolate Cobnut or Chocolate Filbert or perhaps just Chocolate Corylus Avellane, but few will protest that this one of our finest flavors complete with a ribbon of chocolate hazelnut spread. 17. Dirty Cookies & Cream - there is some debate as to who created Cookies & Cream as an ice cream flavor—Blue Bell in Texas, Blue Bunny is South Dakota— it was not Lafayette Creamery….but…this may be the best…yes I said it….this may be the best Cookies & Cream on the market. The proof…when Texans taste this flavor and stop talking.

  20. Habanero Carmel - Sweet—Yes. Salty — Yes. Hot — Yes. Cold — Yes. We struggled to come up with a great caramel flavor that would stand out from other shops, but hit pay-dirt when we hooked up with Kalamazoo-based chocolatier Cherri Emery of Cherri’s Chocol’art. You’ll notice a hint of sea salt along with generous cream usage early on and then a little burn down your esophagus. A core flavor that is available in pint sizes for wholesale distribution.

  21. Key Lime Pie - “That tastes like key lime pie”! It seems like a strange thing to say that something tastes like something is supposed to taste, but it likely points to the fact that so many Key Lime Pie ice creams fall short of the target. Lafayette Creamery’s ingredient-driven version comes complete with crumbled graham cracker sprinkled throughout. A seasonal offering that rolls out each spring.

  22. Lavender Caramel w/ Chocolate Drops - no other flavor exhibits our local roots like this one. Fresh lavender from Shades of Lavender farm in Mattawan is stripped to create lavender oil which is folded into a delicious, creamy caramel made by local chocolatier Cherri Emery which then in folded into a vanilla-based ice cream and combined with a high-quality chocolate drop. This spring seasonal offering is then distributed back to Cherri’s Chocol’art for service in her dipping cabinet and also packaged into single serve four-ounce cups for Shades of Lavender customers to enjoy. 23. Lavender White Chocolate - this flavor is not as anticipated as spring itself, but it coincides with the hopefulness of the season as snowbanks recede, green grass emerges, and the shine of the sun begins to cut through the still crisp air. For now, you’ll have to settle for having it on waffle cone and not on your waffles. A spring seasonal offering.

  31. Peanut Butter Cup - a great autumn flavor made with real peanut butter and a mini chocolate-covered peanut butter cup. A great complementary flavor for a milkshake or malted.

  32. Pistachio - stands out more what it lacks rather than for what it includes—in this case it is the artificial green coloring. Instead our s is a simple recipe with pistachio extract and fresh-roasted, chopped pistachios. Pistachio typically makes it appearance in the late fall/winter.

Often appears in our dipping cabinet in conjunction with Apricot Sumac in late summer.

  38. Salty Pecan Cookie - SPC is the result of letting the production team follow their instincts. Cookie dough chunks containing little chocolate flecks are combined with crunchy medium-sized, roasted pecan pieces and a little bit of salt to create one of Lafayette’s most popular flavors. This is considered a core flavor and is technically available throughout the calendar —except when we cycle it out of the dipping cabinet in favor of other seasonal flavors. It is; however, an autumn staple. We recommend pairing it with our house-made Bourbon Caramel Glaze. Available in pint sizes in local grocery and convenience stores.

  39. Sea Salted Olive Oil - some accounts identify olive oil as a favorite flavor of nobility in the Roman Empire—with so much history, it is hard to believe this flavor generates such intrigue and confused crinkled faces. A versatile alternative to Madagascar Vanilla with an unbelievably smooth texture. Pairs very well with caramels. Come check what so many find so interesting.

  40. S’Mores - introduced in the summer of 2018, we start with a vanilla base then add ribbons of chocolate ganache, crumbled graham crackers, and torched marshmallows. This flavor is the perfect solution for glampers, those who can’t start fires, or those who don’t like smelling like smoke.

  41. Snickerdoodle - we introduced this simple, great flavor as cinnamon upon our opening in 2016 and then “crickets”. Nothing happened, no one tried it, it didn’t move. Once rebranded as Snickerdoodle it soared! Snickerdoodle makes its appearance in our dipping cabinet in the autumn and makes a great complementary flavor to fruit cobblers and crisps.

  42. Southern Butter Pecan - what makes our butter pecan “Southern” ? The answer to that is, “Its proprietary”, but we can tell you that a certain southern chef would likely approve of this recipe.
